Heath Brickle Blonde Brownies

1 1/2 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup oleo
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 bag Heath brickle bits

Cream butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Add salt and baking powder and mix well. Stir in flour. Add Heath brickle bits. Spread over bottom of well-greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done in middle. Cut in bars.

Layered Walnut Brownie Recipe

1 cup walnuts
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
¾ cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
2 squares (1 oz. Each) unsweetened chocolate, melted
Combine sugar and flour; cut in butter as for pastry to form coarse crumbs. Measure out one and one third cups of the mixture combine with walnuts and set aside. Beat eggs with vanilla. Add remaining sugar – flour mixture and chocolate; beat until smooth.
Spread half the batter in a well-greased and lightly floured 8 in. square baking pan. Sprinkle walnut crumb mixture evenly over batter and pat down lightly. Top with remaining batter in small spoonfuls, then gently spread over crumb layer to cover.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 35-45 minutes until top springs back when touched lightly in center and brownies pull away slightly from edge of pan. Cool in pan then cut into bars or squares.
Variations: Top of batter may be sprinkled with a few additional chopped walnuts, if desired or spread homemade frosting on cooled layer.
